This deceptively simple chocolate sauce is amazing, you just have to make it, when you taste it you think "oh, its chocolate sauce, no wait, its toffee or is it caramel? at least that is what I think. We first had it last Sunday night for dessert over ice-cream and it was a hit! Then I made it to take to work, and had it over vanilla ice-cream, for a "goodbye" morning tea for some of our staff and everyone raved about it. It is such a great little recipe to have at hand, it makes you look like a super star.
|Ingredients for Chocolate toffee caramel sauce|
|Melt the butter and the sugar together in a small saucepan, on medium heat|
|Bring it to a gentle boil and let it bubble away for 3 to 5 minutes|
|Add cacao and mix well, then remove it from the heat|
|Off the heat, add the cream and water and again mix well|
|Return to heat until just bubbling again|
