Beautiful Bordeaux Day 10

Bonjour Dear Reader,

Well, we are down to our last day on board the Scenic Diamond, WE DO NOT WANT LEAVE! It has been an all round wonderful, amazing, incredible cruise, we have been pampered and completely looked after every step of the way. I would thoroughly recommend Scenic, they think of everything. Butler service, amazing food, included tours, comfortable buses, clean and comfortable rooms, only the best wines, fresh wet washers to clean your hands when arriving back on board, maps, port talks, cuilinaire classes, cheese appreciation and wine appreciation, super polite, friendly, hilarious, professional staff. I could go on and on, it has been the most perfect holiday and we both thoroughly enjoyed every hour of it.

Last night, we enjoyed the last gala dinner with a special menu of Julie Goodwins Scallops on Celeriac Mash and Crispy Bacon, Lobster with  mushroom and Veloute, finishing with a Cheesecake, chocolate cake and berries. Just so good.

It was a cruise-y night in the lounge following dinner, just some quiet music, I think everyone was too tired from having a hoot the night the before. That suited us just fine, we are both really tired, having had a big day everyday with less sleep than we’re used to. I will need a holiday from the holiday. Breakfast was fabulous, we ordered eggs benedict, which was divine, we topped that off with a glass of Moët, talk about luxury.

This morning we did a Cuilinare cooking class, the chef, Benjamin cooked Coq au Vin and Crepe Suzette, such simple food but so very delicious. The secret is the amount of butter that each recipe uses, rich deluxe.

This afternoon we went on a big bike 30 km ride to Blaye to ride the Captains Road, wow it was so beautiful, so many magnificent homes, gardens and wineries, we wanted to stop more often to take photo’s, honestly so much beauty and every home and chateau was simply amazing, but we were on a tight time schedule, leaving at 2 pm and getting back to the ship by 4.30 pm for a 5 pm departure to Bordeaux.

Did I already say, we don’t want to leave? What a fabulous experience, now if only I could teleport home, it will have been the  perfect holiday.

Till tomorrow,
Fi
