What we bought, spent and ate this week

Hello Dear Reader,

Another week down for 2020, just how quickly is this year going? And what a year so far-

-Fires that destroyed a lot of our country

-Followed by flooding rain

-Now a virus that is wreaking havoc all over the world

I don't know about you, but that is enough for this year, I actually think it's enough for 10 years, what do you think?

As I mentioned a little while ago, our lives haven't really changed that much since Covid 19 arrived, I still have my job, although the way we do business has changed, we still walk our little woofs twice a day, LH still does the shopping on a Wednesday, LH is still working Thursday and Friday in his therapeutic massage business, (Jointly owned by LH and our Son) they are recognised as allied health practitioners, but are still dealing with the public up close and personal, so we'll just have to wait and see what the government decide to do.

Our Daughter and her Fiancé have had to close their tattoo studio but have a little side line business that is keeping their head above water and thankfully their wonderful landlady has put a hold on the rent for the studio until things return to normal. She even offered the little apartment at the back of the studio to the kids to live in, rent free, but as lovely as that is, they can't take up that offer because they own two beautiful cats.

On another note I have been told that the roll out of the new program that I applied for has been put on hold because of the pandemic, I thought that would be the case, I am so utterly disappointed though. Good things come to those who wait, apparently!

Now on with the food that happened in our home this week-

Saturday and Tuesday-Roast Sweet Potato Dhal (Recipe coming Monday)

Sunday and Wednesday-Beef Ragu with Creamy Polenta 

Monday-Calamari Stir Fry 

Thursday-Cheesy Pasta Bake with Basil Pesto, Artichokes and Olives, this recipe is so delicious and very easy to make too, I will pop this recipe up on Thursday

    My comments aren't coming through to you so hope this one gets there.
    It is easy for us to stay at home as we are both retired but I wish I could see my daughters and hug them. It is good to be able to see them and talk through technology and we're grateful for that. We count our blessings every day - we have plenty of food, a garden and our property adjoins woods and fields and we have 2 lovely dogs for company. I am completing craft projects and spring cleaning and my husband works in the garden and workshop. I hope I don't sound smug as I realise how tough it is for some people to stay home and even tougher if they have lost loved ones.
    On the menu this week
    Roast wild duck with roasties and veg, duck and vegetable soup, fishcakes, homemade chips and peas, breaded pheasant breast with potatoes and veg, spaghetti Bolognese, beefburgers saute potatoes and sweetcorn.
